Dammam, Saudi Arabia — In a dramatic Saudi Pro League encounter, Al-Khaleej managed to secure a hard-fought 2-2 draw against the mighty Al-Nassr at the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium on Sunday evening.
The match, which had fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish, saw both teams exchange blows in a game that showcased the intense competition at the top of the league table.
Al-Nassr, coming off a dominant run of form, were the early aggressors. Their star forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, displayed his usual poise in front of goal, testing Al-Khaleej’s defense with several powerful shots. In the 15th minute, Ronaldo was on hand to break the deadlock, scoring a brilliant header from a cross delivered by his teammate Anderson Talisca.
However, Al-Khaleej refused to back down and responded with remarkable resilience. Midway through the first half, Al-Khaleej’s playmaker, Rami Al-Dosari, delivered a pinpoint free-kick into the penalty area. The ball found striker Mohamed Khamis, who leveled the score with a well-taken header past Al-Nassr’s goalkeeper, David Ospina.
As the second half unfolded, Al-Nassr pushed for a winner, with Ronaldo again coming close in the 60th minute after a superb solo run. But Al-Khaleej’s goalkeeper, Fahad Al-Muwallad, was in top form, pulling off a series of key saves to keep the game alive.
In the final minutes of the match, Al-Khaleej stunned the crowd. A counter-attack saw the ball played through to substitute Ahmed Al-Farhan, who latched onto the pass and calmly slotted the ball into the net to put Al-Khaleej ahead for the first time.
But Al-Nassr was not finished yet. In the dying moments of the game, Al-Nassr mounted one last attack. A well-timed pass found Ronaldo in the box, and the Portuguese forward made no mistake, equalizing with a composed finish, ensuring both sides shared the spoils.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw, with Al-Nassr continuing their title charge while Al-Khaleej celebrated a valuable point in their battle to avoid relegation.
